The problem with plastic pollution

Plastic is used a lot and many animals suffer because of this. It takes up to 400 years for plastic to decompose. It only starts to break down after such a long time. Another problem is that 8.8 million tons of plastic is floating around in the ocean. This has also affected animals in many ways. There is a lot of evidence that proves this type of pollution has been caused by people and their unkind habits. It's important that we are aware of these things and protect the ocean at all costs.

✦  My Opinion

I think the amount of plastic has been increasing. Most importantly, one reason so much plastic has accumulated so quickly is because of the mindset most people have when it comes to littering. Most people tend to think, "It's okay, and it's just me doing it." This causes more and more pollution to pile up. Also, more animals are getting injured and sick due to plastic pollution. For example some animals eat plastic out of curiosity which can be harmful to their health. Some efforts we should take to reduce these weaknesses would be taking an interest in a nature activity such as participating in nature conservation and also volunteering is crucial. Let's reduce disposable items and remember to use recyclable ones!
