The article explains that many South Korean students are choosing vocational colleges over traditional universities for employability. In 2026, competition for metropolitan vocational colleges surged from 12.47 to 1, and for junior colleges it rose to 70.9% giving them 9.1% higher than four-year university graduates. When university students are waiting for top-tier business jobs in Seoul, vocational students are successfully getting hired. Many South Koreans want a practical diploma from a two-year university more than a traditional diploma.

✦  My Opinion

I think the academic growth is the main focus. First, when we fail to study, we can't do many things properly like math and English. Secondly, the vocational college graduates employability is higher than Seoul University students. But, if the Seoul University graduates get top-tier corporate jobs, most of the jobs in Seoul pay more money than vocational college graduates make. In conclusion, I think academic growth is more important than employment preparation for these reasons and details.
